In 2004 Viox was taken off the market because of the risk of heart attack to patients using Viox (FDA, 2004). In 2005, Bextra was recalled for the same reason (FDA, 2005). This left the market wide open for Aleve. Aleve is an over the counter form of naproxen. Naproxen is used to relieve pain, tenderness, swelling and stiffness caused by osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis (Anonymous, 2012).
