Executive Summary
In order to avoid RSI and other work related injuries its obvious that Mumbai manufacturing facility will need to upgraded their work stations with the latest ergonomic devices. There are two ways
a) Constant RSI diagnosis should be conducted for all data entry operators once in three months.
b) Since workstation design often contributes to RSIs, ergonomic adjustments of the workstations are often recommended.
Its better to adapt the second strategy because “prevention is better than cure”. Among the various ergonomic devices available in the market the best option is to buy the software’s and upgrade the tables in the office. Then later buy the chairs when they are available in the Indian marke
Background
This report is in response to a request made by Mr Rajesh Chauan, CEO.
He asked me to give a preliminary report on what Mumbai manufacturing facility should do to in order to safeguard their data entry operators from RSI or repetitive stress injury especially because we anticipate further automation in the future, with more data entry operators to be hired.
Based on the survey I conducted and after the analysis of data ,in order to avoid RSI and other work related injuries its obvious that Mumbai manufacturing facility will need to upgraded their work stations with the latest ergonomic devices.
Options
The following options are available for Mumbai manufacturing facility.
a) RSIs can be diagnosed by various tests such as Finkelstein's test and nerve conduction velocity tests that show nerve compression in the wrist, x-ray for the wrist, and MRI for the thoracic area .The most-often prescribed treatments for early-stage RSIs include drug therapies such as anti-inflammatory medications...
