XBOX 360 vs Playstation 3

One would say that shopping for a video game system is easy, but in actuality it's very difficult. Video game corporations will say and do just about anything to make the consumer buy their product, because they know that in todays society consumers want the biggest and best. Look at the XBOX 360 made by Microsoft and the Playstation 3 made by Sony. Both play video games but it's what else they can do that catches the attention of the buyer. Each system has different capabilities that are appealing but the one today that is chosen by more gamers is the Playstation 3. Here is why.

The XBOX 360 is a great gaming machine, it came out before the Playstation 3 was introduced. It promised to do everything the Playstation 2 did and more. The XBOX 360 has better graphics, it plays DVDs, and gamers can play against each other online. There is only one downside to playing online, and that is that the gamer would have to pay a small monthly fee for the service. At this point in time no other gaming system on the market provided this option, so consumers were not hesitant to pay for the service. When the XBOX 360 came out it was very pricey and not everyone could afford it. Unfortunately not all consumers were getting what they paid for. Since this was such a new technology and Microsoft hadn't properly tested it, some systems started to malfunction. Many of the systems would unexpectedly crash during gameplay or just stop working all together. This severely hurt Microsoft's reputation and many gamers stopped purchasing their product. Microsoft decided to correct various problems that the console was having in hopes of bringing out a better product. Although most systems were fixed, they were not perfect and the consumer was still looking for something better and more appealing. Just then the Playstation 3 hit the market.
