SCI206 – Controlled Experiment

Abstract

In this paper I chose the who species cat and mouse, who interact with each other to observe if their organism, requirements for life, and to simply answer the question if a cat could survive if its prey, the mouse, would be eliminated.

Controlled Experiment

The cat is one of the predators that have been around for thousands of years and already have been worshipped in Egypt. These animals, like all other animals, belong to the eukaryotes organism and are originally from Egypt. Because cats are common pets today, they learned to adapt to different lifestyles and surroundings. Because a cat is not a vegetarian, the main diet is meat. Cats can not survive without it because they need the amino acid taurine to not go blind eventually (Kamuna, 2009). A cat is also the perfect carnivore and either stalk actively their prey or they wait until the prey is close enough to ambush it (Wikipedia, 2009). Because cats usually hunt for smaller animals, I chose the mouse as its prey. As well as the car, a mouse belongs to the eukaryotes organism and mice originate in India and south Asia, but their habitat has grown to all over the world (Silver, 1995). Mice prefer to live out in the fields and usually choose a humans house for a winter shelter, if possible. Because mice are domestic living animals living a vegetarian lifestyle, they choose to feed themselves with the variety nature provides them, like potatoes, apples, corn, tree bark, etc. Both of these species live in the same environment and close to humans and because cats rely on food and their meat supply, a mouse is usually a good choice as a meal. The cat almost relies on feeding upon mice, if not living with humans, who feed them regularly. So, the cat depends on the mouse, because without any meat, a cat could go blind. Therefore, when the mouse is not present, how would that affect the cat’s diet and health?

In this experiment I will place a cat in its...
