Integrated Technology

Technology that is integrated into a classroom lesson plan can enhance the classroom experience for students. Students can have more information given to them to help expand the lesson they are learning. For example, a computer with internet can turn a history lesson in a textbook to finding more research on the topic. As stated in the article “Gov. Perdue Recognizes Schools at Inaugural Digital Learning Event” “For example, in English classes software is used to analyze writing skills and Earth Environmental classes engage in ‘web quests’ from NASA to study weather patterns.” (Mackey, 2012)

The range of hardware that can be found in a classroom to facilitate the learning process to make the classroom user friendly should be a television, DVD player, an interactive white board, laptop computers, internet access and a projector. Funding to equip these classrooms can come from a variety of sources. These sources can be federal funding, state funding, local funding and grants. To make better use or access easier the internet should be a wireless connection. Wireless connections can allow for students to bring in school their own personal devices to use and connect with the internet. I f a classroom is hardwired it makes it a little more difficult to ass extra devices into the classroom. A special needs classroom would benefit from a wireless internet connection because there are so many devices that can be utilized in a special needs classroom. As stated in the article “Especially social: Exploring the use of an iOS application in a special needs classroom” “Each student was identified as having exceptionalities requiring additional support and differentiation within the curriculum to support their success.
