(5 pts) Do you consider focus group an appropriate method? Why?

Yes. Focus groups provide a lot of insight on topics that have a variety of different opinions. They draw on the discussions of the participants, and truly productive groups will have members who can build on each other¶s ideas and delve deeper into a situation. They can be recorded and played back for close examination. Focus groups also fit into the budget and time restraints of the project. Between surveys and one-to-one interviews in terms of price, focus groups provide more in-depth analysis and at a relatively cheap price. Focus groups are a quicker solution than having to devise, distribute, and collect surveys, which may be confusing to target markets like children who could have trouble reading. One-on-one interviews, which are good for detail analysis, are also time-consuming and may not work on children who have difficulty voicing their concerns without help. A drawback of using this method is that children may feel peer pressured to answer a certain way. Overall, focus groups do seem to be the optimal method for this particular situation.
