Abstract

Life is a path constructed every day from decisions relying on our personal experiences. Sometimes people deal with situations that make them strong and other times make them weak. Culture, traditions, family, friends, environment are important traits that can play a decisive role on personality. This paper will demonstrate how my personality influenced my personal and career future in pursuing my goals and creating a better life for my family.

Career and Personality

In every moment of my life I see steps, new possibilities ahead of me. Knowledge is power and the world is full of ideas. When I was young, I was told that I was always going to become either a lawyer or a successful entrepreneur because I love challenges. People tell me that my personality is based on an intuitive behavior using rational and logical choices. “Personality refers to individual differences in characteristics patterns of thinking feeling and behaving. The study of personality focuses on two broad areas: One understands individual differences in particular personality characteristics, such as sociability or irritability. The other understands how the various parts of a person come together as a whole.” (2000, para. 1)

We are the result of our experiences and our perception of the world around us. In my daily life I see different people not only in the way they look but also in the way they behave. Some are shy, some crave for attention, some are very intelligent and others actually have to work hard to a good job or even good grades in school. Leading psychologist such as Sigmund Freud and Alfred Adler studied many years to give an answer to this diversity and uniqueness at the same time. The one who came up with an answer was a colleague of theirs named Carl Young. He believed that “the self” is our lives’ goal; and it is the completes term of this significant combination we call individuality...
