Adapt or die – organisations and their managers have no other choice. In the fast changing environment of the 21st century, organisations and their managers must be flexible and adaptable to change. They need to cultivate a management or organisational culture that embraces change if they wish to survive and be profitable. However the organisational culture of an established company should not be compromised in the sole pursuit of profit. The management techniques used by the organisation should be built around the organisational culture that is specific to the company. Therefore to remain competitive and have a sustainable advantage, organisations must establish and nurture a corporate management culture which encompasses the core values of the company and its people. World class companies use their strong cultures to keep them at the top.

The scope of this essay is to duscuss the management changes that took place at Cadbury and its implications on the company and the wider contemporary management sphere in the latter part of the 20th century based on the video case study.
