Technological advances have impacted our lives in significant ways. These advances have benefitted us both personally and professionally. These advances have provided benefits in our professional lives and are common place to most workplaces today. We utilize computers to create reports, conduct analysis, process data, manage projects, and to communicate. All of our work processed on computers can be transmitted throughout the organization Network, switches, routers and servers. We are now experiencing a boom in smart phone and tablet devices that have created a workplace environment that has expanded beyond the actual wall of the organization. We can remain connected to the workplace while we travel, after normal business hours, and on weekends.

As new technologies become standard in the workplace, many positions are catering only to technologically advanced workers with better salaries and opportunities for advancement. A savvy technological worker has the advantage of mobility in different areas and services in an organization. A worker on a modern production line might need to use several computers and other complicated machinery just on his portion of the line.

The good news for people who do not know how to use instant messaging, smart phones, Skype, and other methods of communication is that there are ample resources to learn how to use the technology from articles, books and internet training.
