RE: Proposal to Develop Resident Assistant Manual for WSU Housing
Project Overview
Resident Assistant manual will help the WSU Housing Department when they are training their employee’s and it will help the RAs in emergency situation. It is also help RAs improve their job skills.
All Ras are currently student at Weber State University. Each RA will be expected successfully participate in a 2 week training program at the beginning of every semester. This training program will provide basic information for the RA position, residential education, and emergency procedures. After 2 weeks of training, the housing department will expect RAs to know about all this information. Thus, creating a Resident Assistant manual will be a good idea to improve all RAs job skills and update new information.
Background Information/Statement of the Problem
I am currently working at the WSU Housing Department. My position is a Resident Assistant who is working for residents consulting and information, brainstorming program ideas, organizing for icebreakers, developing training games, designing bulletin boards, creating door tags and more. The resident assistant manual basically will give information about education for the resident, RA position, emergency procedures, and community standards of conduct. RA position is the one of the important things for housing resident’s life, so I would like to create an RA manual for my colleagues.
The Weber State Housing Office does not have a current RA manual in office. They have posted some information on the wall, or they have Weber State emergency procedures manual in the office. The problem is the housing office does not have all of the information in one handbook. The best idea for doing this project is to create a book, such as a ring binder. This will be helpful for every RAs when they are on duty.
