Communication Channel Scenarios

Scenario 1

I would use oral/face- to-face communication for communicating the information to my team as well as written communication in the form of spec sheets containing the details of the product so the team members would have reference material to refer to while brainstorming. By having a team meeting, it would allow for the team members to ask questions about the task which will help to avoid confusion while they are brainstorming ideas. It also allows me as the team leader to ensure that each member of the team is present and that they understand the task they are being given and that they know what the time frame is.

When presenting the strategy that the team develops, I would use a primarily written communication backed up with an oral presentation. The written communication will give the Vice President of Operations something tangible to refer to while I am giving an abbreviated oral presentation.

Scenario II

When contacting the IT department, I would call them so I could explain the situation quickly and get the login name and password faster than waiting for them to check their email and get back to me with the information.

When informing the employees about what had happened hand communication the new login name and password, I would send an email to all of the employees at the same time. This saves me the time of going to each employee and giving them the new login name and password and it ensures that they have the information even if some of them are not at work that day, they will get the information when they return to work.

Scenario III

In this scenario, I believe that oral communication is the best choice for both ways of communication. This allows me to inform everyone at the same time about the issues that are being faced for the company and to get some feedback from all of the employees at the same time so that everyone knows and understands what will be happening.
