Education, helping out and

Over the years the way African Americans view education has changed, drastically. History has shown that slaves experienced many hardships so that students today would have easier lives, and a greater chance of becoming successful. Slaves were not given the opportunity to be taught to read, write or even attend school. They had to teach themselves.

There are a tremendous number of students who do not value education like black descendants did. There are statistics that prove the lack of ambition from students by the increased dropout rate for black students www.bls.gov). Statistics show that one out of every four black men will not graduate from high school, one will end up dead and the other one will end up in jail (www.npr.org). Students are given free educations, books, and supplies, but are doing just the bare minimum to pass a class.

African Americans are a minority group that is ranked at the bottom of the hierarchy. In the past slaves was at the bottom of the hierarchy, but they continued to strive. Black students face several obstacles that white students do not face for example, education. And this is one of the reasons that black students do not do as well as white students. Black students are not given the same resources that white students are given not even just in grammar schools and high schools but college as well. But black students have to learn to maneuver and get around those difficulties just like slaves did in history, because majority of the time no one is going to help the black so therefore they must help themselves.

Helping each other is a tremendous downfall of the African American community. There are rich people that are black but do not give back to the community. In other cultures they believe in and advocate helping one another such as ethnicities from China. They, who own several restaurants, nail shops and beauty supply stores they are family owned...
