Literacy Skills

Literacy is crucial to the success of individuals in both their career aspirations and their quality of life. Writing, reading, speaking and basic computer skills are all types of literacy we use in our everyday life and half the time we don’t even realize it. Computer skills is one literacy skill that I believe is most important in my professional life. I chose this skill because everything is based around computers these days, mastering this skill can give you access to a better paying job or advancing your education online, and using the computer is a great way of communicating with others. I, personally, think that having computer skills is one of the most important skills one can have today.

Take a couple minutes and look around, and see how many things are computerized. Through the years our world has advanced to a new level, technology is taking over. Everywhere you go today; there is some type of computer that you must use. Like for instance, a digital camera. I believe you can take pictures on it, and then download them to a computer. You would have to have some type of computer knowledge to do so. Even most careers require some kind of computer skills, the more skills you have, the better chance for you to advance in that career.

A computer in today’s society is essential for everyday living. Good paying jobs these days require some kind of computer skills; even if we just know how to get online. Some companies will train most of their employees to help give them the computer skills that they need, whether it be typing skills or spreadsheets. Learning the basics would make your resume look better knowing you had already mastered these skills.

We can use the computer in our everyday life to communicate.
