1.) It was a little hard to find a specific occupation I was looking for but once I realized that some of the occupations are under different names it was easier. The information I found on my occupation was very useful. I was able to determine what skills I already had and what skills I needed to be successful. I think after using O*Net more it would be really easy to get the information you’re looking for faster. O*Net makes me feel more confident that I’ll be getting the extra skills I need to get and keep a job in my career field.

2.) As far as O*Net’s suggestion were a bit off when it came to matching my skills. Less than half of their suggestion were right. But either way it was still helpful with what I needed to fulfill my goals. The occupation that I’m preparing for is computer network information security specialist was in their listing under several different names. I think by knowing what to expected from the career that you choose it makes it a lot easier to make a decision on if you want to stick with that career or changed to another career.

3.) O*Net could be useful in conducting a job analysis by continuing to gather information on hundreds of occupations and continue updating by surveying a broad range of workers from each occupation (O*Net resource center). The information from this database can help you narrow down what occupation that best suits you by doing research. I would determine which jobs that I already have skills in are then I would research what jobs there are in my field of study. I would copy what’s needed to make myself more marketable in that occupation. I would look at work activities, the work context, education, and wages (O*Net resource center).

4.) If I were director of human resources I would have the staff use this site because using the database on an annual schedule can provide up to date information on occupations as they develop. O*Net embodies a view that reflects the character of occupations and people. It...
