*What exactly is Pfizer’s same approach for its drugs in Venezuela, and why was in *developed?

The “giveaways” practice that influenced the U.S. doctors’ prescribing has been proven to be an effective way in persuading doctors to certain drugs. Pfizer is using the same approach for its drugs in Venezuela, where doctors don’t earn as much as in the U.S., this approach has become more common. One of the examples is the offer that Mr. Rodriguez, Pfizer representative for Venezuela, gave to Dr. Serrano. A computer and free internet access including Pfizer “telemedicine” Web page which enabled a real time online communication between patients and doctors. This “giveaways” starts out as loans and become permanent gifts once the doctors have shown that they are using them for medical purposes.

Pfizer’s further approach is to refurbish Dr. Serrano’s exterior office in Petare, and paint it with the logo of its program, called "Healthier Community," which combines "Pfizer blue" and Chávez red, color worn by President Hugo Chávez supporters.

This approach seems to work very well both for the patients and doctors. As mentioned earlier, doctors in Venezuela don’t earn as much as in the U.S., this practice helps doctors to run their office while facilitate them with an ease to communicate and diagnose their patients.
