Introduction

The purpose of this paper is to compare and contrast various Linux distributions that are being offered by three different vendors. We are researching the feasibility of using a Linux distribution in both the server and workstation environments. We will cover all appropriate issues including: total cost of ownership, available training, available support, product reliability, and application availability. We will weigh the pros and cons of each of these issues between the various vendors and then will determine which distribution would be the best choice for our company. After all criteria have been considered we will then make a recommendation for management to review.
