Investigate a Social Issue

In this paper I am going to take a look into the issue of crimes in our societies and try to figure out where it begins.

In my opinion crime is the result of social and economical problems in the society. Every major part of any society is its neighborhoods. Our children live in these neighborhoods and naturally they go to the same schools as everybody else goes to in this particular area. Hence, if the neighborhood is poor, there for it is most likely that is drug and gang infested, resulting our children to see and socialize with gang members. Unfortunately wealth determines which neighborhoods are safe and crime free.

In the article Moving and Children's Social Connections the author clearly states that “Results show the impact of moving on children's social connections is influenced by neighborhood context, financial resources, and children's age at the time of the move” (Becky, 2004, para. 1). Our kids and teenagers tend to find a role model on the streets and follow the money making business in hopes of fame and glamour on the streets which ultimately results in crimes, drugs and prostitution on the streets.

According to Dictionary.com the word crime can be defined as “an action or an instance of negligence that is deemed injurious to the public welfare or morals or to the interests of the state and that is legally prohibited” (" dictionary.com," 2011, para. 1). Crime can be the result of week family structure. If the children are left alone to do whatever they want to do and go where ever they want to and there is no one in their life to guide them, they will become future criminal, at least there is 90% guaranty that they will become future criminals. Hence family structure is very important and after that the neighborhood structure is the second factor that contributes to crime rates in any society.
