In this essay the author explains the links between the history of Italy and the cultural of today in Italy. She draws eerie similarities between the two and refers to the problems of today as “unresolved”, (pg. 35). Even though Italy is rich in culture and history, the author explains why it has failed to create a global identity. While Italy still has a lot to learn from its past, the author also shares its successes in applying historical lessons to “social and political cultures and economic structures,” (pg. 36). This essay goes on to evaluate the necessity of using Italy’s past to retain its cultural value and beliefs but also provides gradual steps in making the changes necessary for the country to move forward. This Essay explores several of the dimensions to be covered in my analysis including religion, values and attitudes, and social structures and organizations.
