Subject: Importance of Managerial Behaviors
The Board of Directors wants to express to its first-level management by acknowledging and embracing the approved merger with EnvironTech as well as the changes that will accompany the new entity. We will discuss how a manager’s behavior can directly impact the productivity of their direct reports. We will also address the different types of management actions that are acceptable as well as not acceptable relating to employment laws. Finally, we will discuss some of the best practices relating to working in a diverse environment in the workplace.
InterClean has officially acquired EnvironTech. Your daily actions as first-level managers at InterClean can influence the productivity levels of your direct reports. You as managers must have an open door policy and use fairness toward these employees in your daily activities to help retain these employees during the merger. Retention “compromises the activities of rewarding employees for performing their jobs effectively, ensuring harmonious working relations between employees and managers and maintaining a safe, healthy work environment.” (Cascio, 2005) Sometimes differences of opinions can occur between employees. Managers have to listen to both sides of the story. After hearing both sides and understanding the facts of the disagreement, the manager can identify the best solutions to resolve the situation. The employees that directly report to the manager will have a greater level of respect for the manager and the organization for the positive resolution that was reached quickly. Hopefully, these actions will help the company from losing one or both of the employees. When a company loses an employee, they have to hire a replacement.
