The article that I chose was the “Cameron woman accused of starving, beating her children”, which is about a women that abuses her children. As I read this article it made me want to find out more of what happened so I read more articles and watched interviews with the people involved. This women and her husband had one child together but decided they wanted more so they adopted 4 more children, shortly after the husband was sent to Afghanistan for military. While the husband was gone the mother took all the furniture out of the kid’s room so they had no bed to sleep on, if they made any noise they were forced into a toolbox to sleep in and were punished from food. When the father came home after 2 years in the military the children weighed barely anything and had feces all over the room because they were not allowed to leave.

When the father came home his wife had told him that some of the children became anorexic and would not hold in their food, so that’s why they lost all that weight. The father began to cook food for the children and the children quickly scarf down the food, so at that point the father knew something wasn’t right. His children had told him and others that “mommy would lock us in our room, and had a baby monitor to see if we were making any noise.” When police found out about what was going on both the mother and the father were arrested and charged with child abuse and neglect. Still to this day the father is trying to fight his way out of it and fight for his children because he had nothing to do with it.

While reading this article I learned that people can do very crazy things, even to innocent children. Reading this made me refer to the book, The Child Called It. In the book the mom would starve, and abuse her young son. I realized that these women became abusive when their husbands were not around.
