George H. W. Bush was born in Milton, Massachusetts on June 12, 1924. His father was Senator Prescott Bush and his mother’s name was Dorothy Walker Bush. Bush had three brothers and one sister: Prescott, Jonathan, William, and sister Nancy. Even though he was born in Massachusetts he grew up in Greenwich, Connecticut. When Bush was a child he had five maids and a chauffeur. They even had a vacation home in Kennebunkport, Maine. He also had a senator in the family, his father. His father was Senator of Connecticut from 1952 to 1963. Since Bush was born into such a privileged family it will be interesting to see what he does because his father said to whom much is given, much is required.

In Greenwich, George Bush attended Greenwich Country Day School before entering Phillips Academy in Andover, Massachusetts. At Andover, he played varsity baseball, was captain of the basketball and soccer teams, and president of the senior class. When George Bush graduated from Andover, he had already been admitted to Yale University, but following the attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941, Bush postponed going to college, enlisted in the US Navy on his 18th birthday. At age 18, he became the youngest pilot in the Navy. During the war, he flew bombing missions against Japan, and he flew 53 missions against Japan. He was shot down in combat over the Pacific, and earned the Distinguished Flying Cross.

In 1945 he married Barbara Pierce, a Greenwich, Connecticut woman.  Bush has a big family of 6 children! Their names are George, John, Neil, Marvin, Robin, and Dorothy. Sadly Robin died of leukemia at three years old.

Now married, he enrolled at Yale University. He was captain of the varsity baseball team and majored in economic at Yale University in Connecticut. Bush moved to Texas to get into the oil industry, at first Bush was painting oil rigs. After a...
