Warren’s Policy for Economic Development and Redevelopment

The City of Warren is focused on economic development and redevelopment knowing that the ability to provide services is tied directly to tax base growth. The efforts of the city are to achieve balanced congenial land uses that promote a healthy environment. By encouraging economic development in the existing industrial and commercial areas, the city’s goal is to expand the tax base and to retain and create jobs. This is a major project undertaking. The importance of building a community in which s economic activity produces employment opportunities as well as supporting creative enterprise is the avenue the city hopes will drive revenue that will assist in reaching other goals.

The city’s commitment to an aggressive campaign for attracting new companies and increasing the number of employment opportunities is also coupled with an endorsement to public and private sector partnerships for job retention and creation within the communities. The city is currently working with current business partners on a number of projects that will bring construction jobs to the city. Job creating is one key factor to supporting the community and revitalizing the city’s economy.

The Tax Increment Finance Authority (TIFA) one authority that is seeking out vacant building and parcels that may be developed or redeveloped for business opportunities to improve the city economy and tax base. One odd characteristic of the city of warren is that another city is nested right in the middle of it. The City of Centerline is a one mile square city. Both Warren and Centerline share important major roads.
