Today’s organizations, especially the high technology ones, face uncertainties, turbulence and various dilemmas as part of their growth. Unlike in the past, today’s business scenario is very complex and change is very rapid so only adapting to the change does not suffice. This rapid change demands Organizations to be flexible and control structures cannot afford to be stereotypical bureaucratic structures. Leaders need to think about discontinuous organization transformations in order to create a sustainable and sufficiently flexible organization.

Part II: Case Analysis

The case study for Leadership challenges for Celeritas Inc. includes the following topics covered in the organization behaviour class: Team Building, Organizational change; Motivation; Communication; Leadership; Conflict; Technology. As a part of my analysis I will try to touch upon each one of them and apply the concepts leant in the class.

Team Building: As we learnt in the class an effective team has leadership, communication, understanding each other’s perspectives, mutual trust and most importantly a shared and common goal. Coming to Celeritas, its obvious that Celeritas top management was not functioning as a cohesive unit. The SVPs and the CEO does not share the same goals and values. There is a confusion at the top what the top goals of the organization are and how they are communicated to the employees. The decision making process is not transparent even to the top management. Though the management team should at “Performing Stage”, it does not really deliver because of the above reasons and internal conflicts and is still at “Storming stage”.
