Rain acquired Rutgers

1. Hyderabd based firm buys Belgiam chemical maker for Rs 4920 crore the biggest acquisition by an Indian firm this year. 2. Cigarette Ride

A steep rise in cigarette prices and reduced losses in the non-cigarette FMCG segment resulted in 21% increase in net profit (in Q2) of ITC, India’s largest cigarette maker.

The performance also reflected in the stock price. The stock touched an all-time high of Rs 299.20 on the BSE and closed 2.1 per cent higher compared to the previous close, even as the Sensex was marginally down 0.6 per cent, and the BSE FMCG index up 0.84 per cent. There were lower losses in branded foods, personal care, education and stationery products, which in improving operating profit margin, that is, Rs 30 crore compared to Rs 56 crore in the same period previous year. Losses will decline further, as expected by analysts.
