The Cold War Era lasted from 1947 until 1992. This war lasted over 40 years, which made it the longest war in United States History. From a political standpoint, there was a lot of conflict between the United States and the Soviet Union. Two countries that once had peace had come to an end. One of the political issues that came from this war was communism. The Soviet Union believed in governments taking full control over citizens and the United States believe in a concept of government and the citizens involved. The United States was an independent country and that right of freedom was threatened by the beliefs of the Soviet Union. Republicans also found a lack of support in foreign policy programs, which also caused conflict.

During this war, the Americans saw a lot of serious threats to the United States. With the possibility of communism, the American people would have lost the freedom they have become accustomed to. Americans also saw threats of retaliation through military action from the Soviet Union using nuclear weapons. Using such weapons had the possibility of wiping out the American population with one single missile. Americans also saw the possibility of having a lack of access to natural resources and a reduced international commerce, which would have has a serious threat to the American economy. And the threats of violence in general had an impact on the American people, considering the fact that the Cold War Era started right after the World War II ended.

After reading about the Cold War and the threats that could have become a reality, it made me think a lot about how I could protect my family from any future conflicts that could arise. I think taking the time to show my family how to obtain necessary natural resources would be a good start. I know not all important natural resources are available in the United States but those that are would be discussed. I would also ensure that my family is knowledgeable about the dangers and...
