ABSTRACT
Due to a new product development from our current supplier, we as a fluid power distributor must decipher the value the product brings to our customers. The product under investigation is the air-operated double-diaphragm pump. We have decided to do our own independent research to find out what exactly this pump offers through specification and application research. Further details of this pump will be sought including design, functionality, advantages and disadvantages, materials, and maintenance. Furthermore, we are interested to see how this product would affect our customer’s bottom line. The main objective is to decide if our customer could see the benefit from air-operated diaphragm pumps over other available substitutes.
INTRODUCTION
My team and I are members of a sales force currently working for a fluid power distributor that offers a broad array of pumps, hoses, fittings, accumulators, cylinders, gear boxes and hydraulic fluids. It has become our responsibility to evaluate potential product offerings arranged by our suppliers. Recently, one of our long-standing suppliers, Wilden, has given us the opportunity to market and sell their new line of air operated double diaphragm pumps.
