Underline the topic sentence and bold the concluding sentence in the paragraph.

As a writer and a student audience, purpose, tone and content impact your academic writing immensely, there are three components to making a good paragraph and they also influence your academic writing. The first one would be the audience, the audience is the reader and this is who you are distributing your written work to. Once you know who your audience is you can figure out what you would like to write about and ask yourself questions before starting to write. Second, would be purpose, every writer has to have a purpose when they write, that includes academically as well. The purpose is the reason behind the written work; you use this to conclude a topic and to narrow your research information as well. Third is tone, you use this to convey to the audience how you feel about the topic through grammar, punctuation, views and opinions. Tone is a way to develop a connection with the audience, so in using the appropriate tone for the purpose can really develop a relationship between the writer and audience. Those three components are the foundations that make up the content of the written work. All of these components are important in academic writing, because it contributes to your creativity, utilizes your critical thinking skills and my personal growth as a writer.
