I have a very interesting relationship with my current boss. I currently work for a guy who owns his own Reality Company, called IndiPanda, LLC. My position with him is as a business partner, with my main obligation being finances and tenant screening. He lives in California, so I am the only one of us that is familiar with the area and can offer my knowledge of that to his business as well when he is looking at purchasing properties.

With my boss living across the country, my main method of communication is through emails and text messages. With this, it is always a very formal method of communicating because our emails remain very professional and detail-oriented. We both have our emails send to our smart phones; so many times we can respond immediately. From our communication method, we do run into many situations that emailing is perfect for, and some that this form of communication is increasingly difficult.

In one of my journal entries on July 11th, I talk am referring to talking to my boss through our emails. Our book describes a human relationship dimension of Situation (Andrews, & Baird, JR, 2005,Pg 221). The book further explains that the physical environment, social environment, and the tasks and purposes of the ‘encounter’ can all be related to the relationship. As I mentioned, my boss and I communicate with emails, so our physical environment is always situational. For example, if he is responding to my email in his office then it may be very professionally written. But, if he writes back while in the comfort of his apartment, his tone is always a lighter and friendlier one.

To further elaborate on this, let’s say that he is going to reply to my email about if he wants me to immediately give notice to a tenant who is a day late on their rent. Historically, if he is in his office he will be very professional and respond that yes, they are in violation of their lease and a notice should be given immediately....
