The air fair transportation allowed customers cheaper and faster way of traveling across the ocean, this caused the cruise line. This caused the cruise lines to change their target market from the wealthy upper class to the middle market reducing the price of admission to travel. Also another reason for the growth of the market is the ability to buy these high dollar vessels at a discounted rate. With this being part of the business plan it enables the price of tickets to remain affordable for the travelers. In addition, cruise-lines tend to appeal to many travelers during the current economic situation with the offering of all inclusive amenities and activities both on board and port activities.

2. Carnival cruise lines have taken various steps to benefit from global social changes. For example, in the wake of the terrorist attacks of 9/11 the airlines implemented a security protocol. With cancellations exceeding there bookings Carnival decided to increase the number of ports to depart from for those individuals with the fear of flying. Then with the global recession of 2009 they began offering discounts this attracted more passengers but lower profits per passenger. This allowed the cruise lines to still fill the ship. Also they offered shorter cruises for those individuals unable to taken extended vacations.
