A value stream is all actions(both VA and NVA) currently required to bring a product through the main flows essential to every product (1) the production flow from RM into the arms of cust and (2) the design flow from concept to launch

VSM is a pencil and paper tool that helps us see and understand the flow of material and info as a product makes its way through the value stream
