I should be the 3BCT Warrior of the Quarter because I exemplify what a Warrior should be. A Warrior is defined as “a person engaged or experienced in warfare; a person who shows or has shown great vigor, courage or aggression. As a Warrior in 3BCT, I strive to maintain all of the characteristics which I believe emulate a Warrior. These characteristics include loyalty, courage, sacrifice, resiliency and integrity.

A Warrior must be loyal to his unit, platoon, and comrades. His life is in their hands during battle. He must be courageous, able to look fear and adversity in the eye. What a Warrior conquers defines him not only as a Warrior, but as a man. A Warrior must make sacrifices. He always places the mission before himself and personal relationships. He must be resilient and able to use setbacks as stepping stones to greater achievements. Integrity is a vital part of being a Warrior. He must be able to do the right things in the absence of authority. Warriors use their own knowledge as well as resources afforded to them by the knowledge of others to accomplish the mission. Warriors strive to be the best at what they do. They do not hide in the shadows of others, but aspire to take the lead. They inspire others to strive for greatness.

My devotion to these characteristics has rewarded me greatly. I received accolades from the Brigade Commander and Command Sergeant Major for my hard work and motivation during the Brigade direct fire range. I was chosen to fire the only XM982 “Excalibur” round at NTC rotation 11-01 at Fort Irwin, CA in 2010. I have been chosen as Distinguished Honor Graduate for Basic Combat Training and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Sill, OK in 2007. I was also and Honor Graduate for Warrior Leader Course 03-11 at Fort Hood in 2010.

I believe that I am the 3BCT Warrior of the Quarter because I exhibit all of these qualities on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.
