Inclusion In the Classroom

Inclusion in the classroom today, remains a controversial concept because it not only relates to educational and social values but it also relates to a sense of individual worth. Inclusion is a term, which expresses a commitment to educate each child to the maximum extent of their ability in the school and classroom that he or she attends. Inclusion brings support services to the child in the general classroom, instead of moving the child from the general classroom to receive services. It is thought that including children with disabilities in a classroom with benefit the child.

However, the way a child learns is just as unique as children themselves. Though inclusion

may be helpful to most children it may not work for all children. Inclusion is one of the many

steps that the government has taken in the education of children with learning disabilities.

Autism is one of these learning disabilities. Autism is developmental disorder that appears in

the first 3 years of life. Autism affects the brain's normal development of social and

communication skills.

The term “Autism” can also mean many different things, including a wider

spectrum of children. For example, a child who is diagnosed with high-functioning

autism today may have been thought to simply be odd or strange 30 years ago. These

children may function ok or even well in an inclusion classroom where a child feels they

are part of their peers but also has the extra help they need I order to full fill their

curriculum.()

In order to make sure that all children, including children with Autism or other severer disabilities receive the best education possible including, there are many resources for parents
