Statement of Purpose

I am applying for admission to the Professional MBA program to enable me to more effectively pursue a career in international business.

I graduated from Maulana Azad College of Technology (MACT), India with a Bachelor's degree in XXXX in 2004. The undergraduate curriculum at MACT introduced me to a wide gamut of courses. After completing my Bachelor's degree, I worked as an Intern Architect at XXXX, an architecture consulting company in India. This period was a real eye-opener and gave me invaluable hands-on experience in the construction field. Most importantly, I left XXXX with the decision to pursue advanced studies in Architecture.

I entered the M.S. degree program in Architecture at the University of XXXX to help me impart a greater depth to my knowledge. At University of XXX, I developed excellent analytical skills and improved my problem-solving ability, but I never had the opportunity to take courses exploring business strategy, finance, or market forces. After completing my M.S. studies, I received an offer to work for XXXX. I am seeking a change in my career path, due to the current real estate and economic conditions.

During my time-off from work, I had started to become interested in the field of international business. Having followed the careers of a number of individuals in international business, I was convinced that I had the right profile to succeed in this new field. This sparked my interest in the business & financial aspects in the operations of an international company. Taking into consideration my foundation and my interests, graduate business school was the logical step. My ability to develop high-level business relationships with sophisticated clientele is an attribute supporting my move into a career in international business, and will help to build the solid foundation needed to reach my long-term career goal of playing a leadership role in a global company.
