Irrigation Audit VO Script

Irrigation Soil Moisture Audit

Intelligent Irrigation, what is your root zone telling you?

The ability to anticipate and prepare for future drought conditions is essential.

Detecting soil moisture problems farther in advance with greater accuracy will be the crucial factor in making irrigation management decisions.

Intelligent irrigation begins with the right data, that’s why Spectrum Technologies developed this new system for a more accurate irrigation audit directly in the root zone.

Using the FieldScout TDR 300 soil moisture meter,

SpecMaps web-based application,

And your GPS unit,

You can transform your data into a 2 dimensional color map of soil moisture variability.

The traditional audit process can be time consuming,

Setting up the catch cans,

Drawing out diagrams,

and waiting for the watering cycle to be completed.

The whole process is tedious and not very flexible.

Most importantly, this only measures the water applied but gives no information from the root zone.

Factors such as compaction, slope, and impermeability influence how water moves into the soil.

Our NEW method is a easy, 3 step process:

1. Take your measurements

2. Process and Upload your data

3. Analyze your results

Step 1: Take your measurements.

Connect your GPS to the Field Scout TDR 300 meter

For this example, we’ll use a golf putting green.

Sample the perimeter of the site

Next, walk across the site and begin sampling interior points

Locate your sprinkler heads by taking readings in the air at each one.(ProTurf only)

Step 2: Process and Upload your data

Download the data using Field Scout software

Next, go to www.specmaps.com,

sign in,

then upload your data file

Step 3: Analyze your results

The map and color legend gives you a visual picture of the under watered or over watered areas.

It also shows a measurement summary and a histogram
