The analyses of this case study will demostrate the clinical psychology method that is applied in the every day life of the individual in this particular case study. The overview of the selected case will be discussed as well as the biological, psychological and social factors that are involved in this case. An intervention process will be discussed which applies to clinical psychology. The intervention will include; the retionale of selecting the intervention method, what is going to be done, who will be involved in the intervention, what the setting will be like and which of the following areas will be the intervention focus on; biological, psychological or social aspect.

Substance abuse or dependency has and continues to be an increasing problem in our society. Finally, a problem that has been recognized as a disorder; and it can be seen clearly that millions of people suffer from it world wide. What is just a glass of wine? What will a couple of beer do? Marijuana just a leasure drug, anyone can stop at any time? How many times have individuals asked or repeated these phrases and their problem just gets bigger and uncontrollable? The individual in this case study was faced with these denying phrases and continued to believe them until the problem of her substance abuse was uncontrollable and her life was completely consumed by this illness. “Betty Ford had to admit to her family that she was addicted to prescription drugs and alcohol,” this would help her start her recovery toward controlling this substance abuse addition (Meyer, R., Chapman, L., Weaver, C. 2009) Betty Ford was Gerals R.
