Scope Statement

Project Objective:

To redevelop an old playground into a safe, more stimulating environment within 4 ½ months at a cost of no more than $63,000.

Deliverables:

* A fort area with the following:

* Free of graffiti

* Replaced roofing structures

* Repainted

* Replacement of damaged wood

* Sanded down for safety and prevention of splinters

* New swings with coated plastic over the metal chains

* New slides that are reinforced and made of plastic (to replace old metal slides)

* Monkey bars and other climb structures replaced with new coated metal

* New benches for parents with small gazebo for shade

* Astroturf and rubber play mats in play areas

* Repaved basketball court that is repainted

* New basketball hoops

* Tires replaced on tire swings

* Sidewalks around play area for bike riding

* Decorations (such as roofing, painting, colored mats, etc.) to make playground more attractive

* Planting of new vegetation around playground (after research of safe plants) to reinforce boundaries (trees, bushes, etc.)

* A new smaller/younger children play area (to attract new children/families), including:

* Small slides

* Rubber play mats for falls

* Low level climb areas

* Tubes to climb through

* Low, coated monkey bars no higher than 4 feet

* Low level balancing areas

* Wheels and music areas

Milestones:

* Inspection of playground including measurements

* Determination of materials needed including budget

* Finished surface areas (Astroturf replacement and rubber mats in small child areas)

* Finished fort area as determined by deliverables

* Finished basketball courts (including new hoops and paint) and sidewalks for biking

* Finished swings and slides (all types)

* Finished metal replacement, including

* Finished small/younger child play area

* Finished gazebo and benches

* Finished...
