A Round Trip to Hell

Do you believe in ghosts? Well, I do because I saw once. I saw a light, a red light, a very bright light. It was so bright that I hardly keep my eyes open. I wanted to ignore it and rushed home to sleep, but my curiosity got the best of me. Something inside me urged me to go and stub it out, but I had no idea where I was going. However, what I was about to see was going to change my life forever.

It happened to me nearly a half decade ago, when I was eighteen years old. I used to live in a village with small and dim roads. Most people in my village were farmers, including my family. The education in my neighborhood was not really important. Most important was how to survive and how to make a living. That was why I had only finished grade eleven. I helped my parents working on the farm, which was really hard. I had to go out there all day, under the sun, digging holes, planting seeds, and watering vegetables. Moreover, my family couldn’t support me to go to school.

One evening, I was having fun and getting drunk at my friend’s house with my cousins. I was drunk that I couldn’t even ride my motorbike home, so I left it at my friend’s house. I decided to walk because it was a beautiful night with lots of stars; however, the distance from my friend’s house to my parents’ was about two kilometer.

It was midnight. The road was very quiet and without any other people walking. As usual, I saw a big banian-tree and many other kinds of trees on both sides of the road, but this time was different. The road did not seem to end. There was darkness around. I felt a little cold, and I had a little creepy-crawly feeling because the wind blew gently into my nape. Something lingered round and round in my head like a voice leading me to somewhere. I felt like many different voices whispering into my ear, like talking to me. I was very scare.
