Linda Boyden

Linda Boyden spent most of her life teacher elementary kids in Maryland, Nevada, Montana, and Virginia. In 1997, instead of teaching she wanted to change her career to writing. When her husband and she moved to Maui, she had been the leader of different groups that pertained to the children. She was a part of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators and Wordcraft Circle of Native American Writers and Storytellers. She states that she loves to visit schools and libraries by being able to read to them. Her family and she moved again to a place called Redding in California. It is said to be a regular reader at many libraries and schools also. As of right now she, is making her first storytelling DVD and she also enjoys spoiling her grandchildren.

Boyden stated “For as long as I can remember, I have loved words.” When Linda Boyden was a child she had got advice from adults, teachers, and other relatives saying what she all needed for her fiction stories. Boyden also said that “A traditional Cherokee myth says that the first stories came to the People through dreams.” Which the myth actually really matched what her first book was about. The first book she wrote was about a dream that Linda Boyden had.

One of her books named The Blue Roses, which was rejected for publishing numerous times finally hit the stores and received awards for it. The Blue Roses is about a girl named Rosalie with her grandfather named Papa. In this story it tells us how Rosalie learns from her Papa after spending most of their time together gardening. They both had a passion for gardening. By the end of the story, her Papa passes away and she takes all the knowledge she learned and uses that in her life.
