The idea of the police role in society requires us to think beyond technical and operational aspects of police work and more generally the place of legitimate authority in society. Civil policing is the role of the police in which includes enforcement of criminal law as in maintenance of law and order and the protection and safeguarding of the lives and properties of citizens. Policing is depicted as a way of crime control. It refers to organized forms of order maintenance, law enforcement, and crime investigation. Various changes within the police organization are considered necessary to achieve a new style of policing at a neighborhood level. It offers a real solution to a growing problem. If this were to lessen it would leave a lot of unstable communities. There would be little focus and not much maintenance of law. The sense of security would lessen among citizens.

Probable cause is a level of reasonable belief that is based on facts that can be articulated and is a requirement to sue a person in civil court or to arrest and prosecute a person in the criminal court system. Before any person can be sued or arrested and prosecuted, the civil plaintiff or police must posses enough facts or evidence that would lead a person to believe that the claim or charge against that said person is true. In criminal cases the court must find that probable case exists to believe that the defendant committed the crime before they may be prosecuted. Probable cause is not absolute certainty. Police do not need to absolutely certain that criminal activity is taking place. It can exist if there is any doubt in a person’s guilt. These issues can be improved by keeping a sharp eye out on the crime around communities. They would need to continue to make sure to obtain all evidence to crimes and make accurate arrests. Learning new tactics and abiding by new laws and regulations will help them greatly.
