Abstract

Global Communications feels the pressure of the industries with trying to keep up with its competitors and watching its stock prices fall. Yet the stockholders are giving them a lot of pressure to correct the problem. Global Communications needs to offer better services than what their competitors are providing to their customers. This paper will discuss the background, the problem, the end goals, alternative solutions, risk assessment, the optimal solution, and lastly the implementation plan.

Global Communications Situation Analysis and Problem

When an organization thinks of Global Communications they think of communication with other states and other countries. The basic definition of Global Communications is “being or having to do with a business, operation, system, etc. carried on or extending throughout all or much of the world.” (Your Dictionary, 1996). Historically, people have communicated globally thorough geographic proximity, military conquest, political alliances, and economic change; however, for thoughts of years communities had little need for long distance communication because they lived close to one another. (Gregg, 2000). Today, communication is no longer restricted to a geographical place, with communication technologies connecting parts of the world together into an electronic web. (Frederick, 1993).

Global Communications has far-reaching implications for business methods, design and manufacturing techniques and the way individuals interact, travel, entertain themselves, obtain information and communicate.
