Define the following terms:

Term | Definition |

Stereotypes | Unreliable, exaggerated generalizations about all members of a group that do not take individual differences into account. |

Prejudice | A negative attitude toward an entire category of people such as a racial or ethnic minority. |

Labeling theory | Maintains that the labels people are given affect their own and others perceptions of them, thus channeling their behavior either into deviance or into conformity. |

Answer each question in 100 to 150 words related to those stereotypes:

* What are the positive aspects of the stereotypes, if any? I personally do not feel that there is anything positive about stereotyping anyone at any time what so ever. Stereotyping is too much like prejudice and discrimination all rolled up into one I believe. There is nothing positive that could come out of stereotyping someone. Stereotyping someone just based upon their color or the way that they dress or speak is not a nice or positive thing to do. Feel stereotyping someone is also a lazy way of getting out of getting to know someone for whom they are as well.

* What are the negative aspects of stereotypes? The negative aspects of stereotyping people are first off all it shows signs of prejudice and even discrimination as well. Stereotyping someone without getting to know them by the basis...
