Our group decided to research on the taxi demand in Singapore. Despite the increase of taxi fares, additional charges in CBD areas and the traffic congestion during peak hours. Surprisingly, there is a high demand of taxis regardless of the odds mentioned. We have computed few articles and graph to support our findings.

Based on the external research, it shows that from January, at least 70 per cent of their fleets are on the road during the peak hours of 7am to 11am and 5pm to 11pm. Subsequently, the level will go up to 80 per cent in 2014 and 85 per cent in 2015.

Even though, the taxi fare has increased, the demand is relatively high because other public transports have also increased their fare. Therefore it does not make any difference in which transport is taken in daily basis.

Reasoning is, there are many taxi operations thus taxis are easily spotted anywhere and based on convenience purposes unlike public transports such as buses and trains, consumers have to compete with the peak hours train congestions and time delay.

No doubt, there are traffic jams on the road, however with the benefit of expressways, there will be other means to arrive to their destinations without much hassle.

Taxis are the most essential and reliable transport, especially if a

person is running late for an important meeting or other matters.

Based on the graph below, it clearly explained the demand.

Our group has studied about the on-going issues regarding the taxi fares and the demand for taxi during the peak period. Therefore, with our current statistic, it shows the high demand during the peak period time of 12-1pm and 5-6pm on weekends especially in the shopping center.
