Consumer advertising
This is nothing but product or service advertisements directed towards the consumer. The goal of consumer advertising is to introduce or re introduce products and services to families and private individuals for dailey use and consumption. This include househould appliances, clothes, books , movies etc

1) Product advertising
This is the most common form and includes the types of product advertising
Sales advertising, clearance advertising and regular price line advertising
This is used when discounts or special prices are included, where advertising of clearance sales to get rid of old stock or what is normally offered at the normal regular price.
2) Brand advertising
Here the focus is on the brand name with no reference to the product, successful brands and their logos have became a way of life such as have a break have a kit kat.
3) Generic advertising
This involves advertising a product type. Consortia groups undertake generic advertising . eg a campaign to promote locally produced products.such as milk therefore generic adv promotes the benefits and advatages and not to promote a particular manufacturer.
4) Range advertising
Advertising arrange of products in a single advertisement eg shampoo or cosmetics.
5) Retail advertising
This is carried out by retailer and its purposes are to raise awareness about the shop ( to build corporate image). To increase store traffic and to advertisie the range of products . the media used is tv, press, radio ,poster campaigns etc. this usually appears towards the end of the week.
6) Direct response advertising
