BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY
African has been plagued with lack of foreign investors and unsustainable development paths for a long time. There are also ineffective regulatory environments and a general lack of regulatory frameworks that allow corporate organizations to work efficiently. Rules are not enforced and people lack access to the opportunities and protections afforded by a functioning legal system.
This is not unconnected with the environmental concerns investors face. In my research, I will narrow down to one aspect of this challenge which is CORPORATE GOVERNANCE AND ETHICS in corporate institutions. In this project, I will investigate the problem of lack of Corporate Governance, the impact of this in our economy and the possible turn around effect of this if corrected and implemented in our corporate bodies and Government establishments. Based on this, the topic below was chosen to broadly and effectively identify the problem, recommend adequate solutions with the hope that this document will be effectively adopted for implementation.
The research is based on the concept of Corporate Governance, Enabling Environment and Emerging Markets in West Africa. The research is also based on the Hypothesis that “Effective Corporate Governance will enhance the right enabling environment for emerging markets”
