Chapter 1 Short Answer Questions

1. BMH has a vision statement that describes each employees responsibility as an employee at BHM. It plan is meant to be a reminder of the values and principles that BHM strives for in giving great quality care.

BHM has a philosophy know has the “Three C’s”. The three C’s are Clinical excellence, corporate effectiveness, and customer and service excellence. BMH wants to give quality care to every patient and to make corporate decisions that keep their employees and patients best interest at heart.

BHM believes that good customer care comes from consistent training. They developed several enrichment programs to develop their employees into leaders.

BHM has created several programs to keep their employees educated. They provide employee education reimbursement while employees are going to school. They also have a scholarship program for employee’s children that are interested in the medical field.

They consistently strive to improve their services. They were designated as a “best practice” facility for their heart attack practices and hip replacement practices.

They have several wellness programs to help keep employees mentally and physically well. They have programs which include weight loss and smoking cessation. These programs keep the employees healthy which allows for optimal workmanship and performance.

13. I worked for a medical implant and instrument manufacturing company. We used CNC machines to make knee replacements and surgical instruments. The process began with a block of metal. The metal was cut to a specific size depending on which instrument or part was being made. Then the metal was placed in the CNC machine and machinist would program the machine to the specs needed to make the part.
