MANAGEMENT STYLES

INTRODUCTION

Successful companies know that organizational improvements begin with effective management. Management is the key to finding employees’ greatest talents. The key is to discover what's naturally right with people, then build on it. Managers must motivate employees. Motivation plays a critical role in achieving goals. Managers that are able to inspire their employees are very important for organizations and companies that want to reach their objectives in a competitive market place. A good and effective manager is able to lead his employees, has pride, and enforces the four principles of management. The four principle of management are planning, organizing, leadership and control. The management style that I have developed is based on what I have read and learned from this class. It is called “Self-actualization Management.” This style of management is built on motivation. Motivation is the key to achieving things in life and is also the key to achieving “Self-actualization,” which is the drive to become what one is capable of becoming (Robbins & Judges, 2009). Motivation is an inner force that drives individuals to accomplish personal and organizational goals.

The key managerial functions of planning, organizing, leading and controlling are all crucial to the success of any manager. Managers exist in every business. They do similar tasks in all businesses. A manager at a grocery store and a factory manager’s job consists of similar tasks. Planning, organizing, leading and controlling all serve an important part in achieving company goals. Each component is important and one cannot function well without the others.
