Great Working Environments

Fortune magazine has published its list of 100 best companies to work for in 2012 several companies continue to make the list year after year. Companies such as Google, Starbucks, Mattel, and Build-A-Bear Workshop continue to attract top notch employees by cultivating interpersonal and work relationships, team building cohesion groups, and just a plain have fun at work imperative. To remain competitive in today’s market and recruit the cream of the crop more of America’s corporations need to adopt the ideal company ethic, working with others is the foundation of today’s business, “The success of these organizations often depends on how well groups within the organization function in order to be more productive and efficient, as well as to be more satisfying to the members who belong to the organization” (Losh, 2011).

Google takes the number one spot on the list as the best company to work for, the environment is simply fun and exciting because the company fosters an atmosphere of openness, respect and running with new ideas, “We strive to maintain the open culture often associated with startups, in which everyone is a hands-on contributor and feels comfortable sharing ideas and opinions” (Google, 2012). Group cohesion plays a major part of this company’s identity, groups and work teams run rampant throughout the company and are strongly encouraged to foster new ideas, make plans to achieve goals and submit any and all suggestions to improve the company and its working environment.

There are groups with in groups at Google and participation is highly recommended because people with similar interests usually feel attracted to others of the same ideals, it’s comforting to work with people on the same wave length working together to reach the groups desired goals.
