New Armed Robbery Bill Proposal

The objectives of this bill are to double the maximum prison term for armed robbery, it is for this reason that I have recommended this thorough approach concerning the investigation, but one could ascertain that there may be other motives for said crime. I recommend that the investigation look into exactly what was stolen and if the weapon the suspect was utilizing was actually loaded. By these two recommendations, we should consider if the items that were stolen were wants or needs (i.e. electronics used for music, video games, etc., as opposed to food or sheltering methods). One aspect that should be taken into account is, maybe the weapon the suspect had may have been used as a form of intimidation and not a lethal option; a desperate measure to obtain food for his child(ren), when all other options have been exhausted. In no way should the deed go unpunished, just by using punishments that are more lenient then the methods proposed by this new bill.

The goals of this new bill are to reduce the amount of armed robberies that occur, a goal that will definitely be difficult to obtain, but efforts will be relentless towards repeat-offenders and fair towards those who have resorted to these means so as to obtain that which is necessary.
