Audience Analysis

My target audience would be young adults enrolled in college and young professionals. The reason I would write to young adults is because I feel they can do the most to change energy issues. My theory is if someone takes up a cause while they are young they will most likely continue to support that cause throughout their lifetime. My audience would need to have some education in order to be effective negotiators. Politicians have the most pull in energy issues and they are not likely to listen to someone who does not come from an educated background.

Most of my audience will already be aware of the energy crisis. All they have to do is watch our gas prices fluctuate. If they watch the news or read the newspapers as well, they are likely to be pretty well informed on the topic. Some will be very willing to take on a new cause, especially if it can save them money. Some will be more reserved because their lives are busy enough or because they do not feel they can make a difference.

I am part of my target audience. I am fairly young, well educated, and continuing my education as we speak. I am not demanding or forceful but I can make a pretty decent argument for a cause I believe in. I believe that my opinion would be well received.

I would like to come across to my audience as an informed party who is eager for change. I do not mingle with the crowds that would handle the sort of change we need, but I am willing to participate in other areas that would make a difference.
