1) What affects our views? Use the textbook and your opinion (provide page numbers)

a. Does age? Culture?

b. What biases might we hold? Be honest, we all have them.

c. How do you think your views of students of different or other genders, races, ethnicities, sexual orientations, cultures affect your type of leadership style?

Our views are affected by our surroundings, and help shape what we feel. As managers, differences should be recognized, understood, and appreciated, but factors like ethnicity, status, race, gender and other characteristics where a person does not have a choice should play a role. a. Age would play a factor in how I teach in the classroom. For example, you would teach those in 3rd grade a less technical way of basketball then you would a classroom of high school students. Culture would also affect my view, as introducing new sports to the classroom would be a part of my curriculum, as a way to keep the students interested. In the same way, students from other cultures may need more time in learning American physical educational classroom staples.

b. People hold a number of biases, which developed as they aged. By identifying what you hold bias, then you can grow as a person, by trying to lessen the misconceptions. Biases that some hold includes ethnicity, economic status, cultural background, gender, creed, race, etc.

c. I believe that living on the Southside of Chicago has given a great lesson in dealing and appreciating the differences in people. This will carry over in my management style, as I hope to educate students that it is the differences that make us interesting. I think that team games and activities help prove this the most, as students must put aside differences in order to achieve a goal.
